Glossary — AI department head, AI business agent, human-in-the-loop

Plain-language definitions of the core Business-Gym concepts so the terms are unambiguous.

The vocabulary Business-Gym uses, in plain language.

AI department head

An AI department head is a focused AI assistant responsible for one area of a business — finance, HR, sales, support, and so on. It reads the inbound work for that area, drafts the replies and next steps, and organizes the tasks, while a human approves anything that sends, pays, or commits. Think of it as a tireless deputy for one department who prepares the work and hands it to you to sign off.

AI business agent

An AI business agent is software that can take a real business task from start to a ready-to-approve result — reading the relevant information, deciding the next step, and drafting the output — rather than only answering questions. Business-Gym’s department heads are AI business agents scoped to a department.

Human-in-the-loop (HITL)

Human-in-the-loop means a person reviews and approves the AI’s work before anything with external or financial consequences happens. In Business-Gym, sending a message, moving money, and any legal action are always human-approved — the AI proposes, a human disposes.

Autonomy level

How much routine, reversible work a department head does on its own (such as sorting and organizing) versus proposing for approval. You set this per head. Raising autonomy never removes the human-approval floor on sends, money, and legal.

Draft

A proposed output — a reply, reminder, checklist, or summary — that a department head prepares for you to review, edit, and approve. Drafts are never sent automatically.

Triage

Reading new inbound items and sorting them by what they are and how urgent they are, so the important work surfaces first instead of sitting unread.
